Easy Vegan & Dairy-Free Desserts (Mostly No-Bake)

The vegan desserts we make so often we forget they’re even vegan.

We get this one a lot: “wait, it’s vegan?” Yep. Every Fancy Monkey mix is plant-based from the start, so around here “vegan dessert” pretty much just means dessert. Grab your favorite plant milk and you’re most of the way there.

No dairy, no eggs, no fuss. Whisk the mix into oat, almond, cashew, soy, or coconut milk and it sets up rich and creamy in about two minutes. Higher-fat milks like oat and soy give the thickest, most scoopable results, but every one works.

From a spiced horchata pudding to a bright lemon poppy seed cake to rainbow popsicles, these are the vegan and dairy-free desserts we make on repeat. Every recipe below is fully plant-based as written, and most are no-bake.

A few tips

  • Reach for higher-fat plant milks (oat, soy, cashew, or coconut) for the creamiest, most scoopable set. Almond and rice milk work too, just a touch lighter.
  • Give vegan puddings a slightly longer chill than you would with dairy for a firmer scoop.
  • Swap dairy toppings for coconut whip or dairy-free yogurt and the whole dessert stays plant-based.
  • Every flavor of Fancy Monkey mix is vegan, so any recipe on the site can be made fully dairy-free with plant milk.

Make it yourself

New to Fancy Monkey? It is gloriously simple: whisk one pouch into 2 cups of any milk for 2 minutes, then let it set. Shop all flavors, browse more recipes, or raid the Milk Guide to match your milk to the recipe. Made something? Tag @meetfancymonkey so we can see it.

Frequently asked questions

Are Fancy Monkey desserts vegan?

Yes. Our pudding mix is plant-based, vegan, Non-GMO, gum-free, and made with no artificial flavors. Whisk it with any plant milk and it stays vegan.

What plant milk works best for vegan pudding?

Any of them work. Oat and soy give the richest, creamiest set, and almond, cashew, and coconut are great too. See our Milk Guide to match milk to recipe.

Are these desserts dairy-free as well as vegan?

Yes. Made with plant milk, and dairy-free yogurt where a recipe calls for yogurt, every recipe here is fully dairy-free.

Do I need special equipment or baking skills?

No. Most of these are whisk-and-done: a bowl, a whisk, and your plant milk. A couple use the freezer or a cake pan.

Which vegan dessert is easiest to start with?

The Vegan Horchata Pudding or Golden Milk Pudding. Both are whisk, chill, and done.
